1. I am largely unfamilar with your band- can you give some background info?

Reflection was born back in 1991, in order to serve the Epic paths of Heavy Metal. The past 12 years the band have released a 7'' vinyl EP Single (The Sire Of The Storm), a mini Split CD (The Realms Of The Night), and 3 albums (The Fire Still Burns, The Fire Still Burns-2001 Edition and Odyssey).

2. How would you describe your musical vision for Reflection?

The musical vision of the band is very simple. We are here to play Epic Metal. We were raised in the mid '80s thus our musical influences are from that era. Our vision is to continue producing Epic Metal music and play live to many places. We know that there is not much room for Epic Metal in our days and we are not going to be famous but... who cares? We are here to continue the legacy.

3. What separates your band from your typical metal band?

The only thing I can say is that we play from the heart. Many bands play only because they thing that they will gain money or become stars and finally they end up doing nothing.

4. I find your sound very unique and always interesting- it's almost exotic at times, what are some of the influences you have when it comes to songwriting?

As I told you before our influences come from the golden age of the '80s. We are proud to say that the bands that gave us the inspiration to play are the mighty Warlord, Solitude Aeturnus, Candlemass and Memento Mori. We do not hide and say "we do not have influences, blah blah". Every musician has his influences. The good thing is to filter them and produce a very good result and not just copy them. Also due to Stathis' musical studies in ancient Hellenic music we use some of these elements in our music.

5. Are you a fan of traditional metal? This disc feels like it would be appropriate for vinyl- are you a record collector?

Of course we are record collectors!!! I can say that our previous album was released not only in CD but in picture vinyl too!!! We are very proud to own the Warlord albums, the first 2 Solitude Aeturnus albums, and many more rare pieces of divine music!

6. You also have something interesting to say lyrically- what is the concept to the words on this disc?

The concept of the latest album is the well known to everybody epic of Homer "Odyssey". It has to do with the return of Odysseus from Troy to his island Ithaca. In his way back he had to fight with Gods, Giants, Monsters and Sorcerers! But all these are explained in the 24 pages booklet in the CD.

7. With so many bands out there how do you think you can give Reflection a fighting chance and get noticed?

We are dedicated to a small community of people who likes Epic Metal. We know that there are not many fans of this kind of music but we also know that there are not many bands that play Epic Metal. We will continue to play good music and we hope that we will spread our music to all Epic Metal fans.

8. What are your plans for this fall? Will you be writing new material?

It is very early for a new album because "Odyssey" is out only for 7 - 8 months. We will tour all Hellas for gigs and finally we will play with the legends of Heavy Metal "Solitude Aeturnus" in their concerts in Athens and Thessaloniki. This will be one dream come true!!!

9. If so, what direction would you like to take the next album?

The direction will be the same as it was the last 12 years. Hot and Epic Heavy Metal. Nothing more - nothing less. We like what we are doing, thus there is no reason to follow a different direction.
