Leo Stivala was born on the
28th April 1972. He spent his childhood playing soccer and
going fishing with friends until Heavy Metal came into his
life at the age of twelve. He started immediately listening
to Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Dio, Saxon, Iron Maiden and
a host of NWOBHM bands.
He started taking guitar lessons
at the age of 15 and formed a band called North Winds which
only lasted for two years and later he had a few months experience
as a bassist with a King Diamond influenced band tentatively
called Nightfall. Leo is a staunch Doom Metal fan and his
first true experience with doom metal was listening the Candlemass
"At the Gallow's End" for the first time. From there
on Leo was doomed for eternity. In mid 1990 he joined Blind
Alley as a vocalist. This band later had some member changes
and changed the name to FORSAKEN. Leo is still Forsaken's
vocalist of this Maltese Epic Doom band for 15 years releasing
3 full length albums and playing the best metal festivals
in Germany namely Doom Shall Rise, Keep It True and Headbangers
Open Air.
Apart from Forsaken Leo also
participated in some projects like the doom band Born Too
Late with Albert Bell (Forsaken bassist) for a one off concert
and also started some vocals with thrash band Amethyst which
only lasted for a few months.
In late 2005 Leo was contacted
by Stathis Pavlantis from the Greek Epic Metal band REFLECTION
as regards to the possibility of being part of this mythical
band. After some discussions Leo accepted and his first experience
with Reflection was fronting Reflection as support to Solitude
Aeturnus at the An Club in Athens on the 3rd of April 2006.
Leo's collaboration with Reflection is getting stronger and
hopefully the time will come to record the new Reflection
album.
